Job summary

Fichtner Consulting Engineers Ltd in Stockport is seeking a Lead Engineering Consultant to oversee multi-disciplinary energy projects across thermal, renewables, waste treatment, or data centre power.

You will apply a degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, lead project delivery, and manage client relations within a consultancy setting. The role requires working from Stockport 2–3 days a week, with UK/Ireland travel.

Qualifications

• Professional engineer with a degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or close equivalent field.
• Significant project management experience on thermal power, waste treatment, renewables or data centre power projects.
• Experience with consultancy processes: reports, contractual standards, negotiation, P&IDs, models, and client liaison.

Responsibilities

• Lead consultancy projects across energy sectors from inception through delivery.
• Produce professional reports and maintain client liaison.
• Ensure compliance with UK engineering standards and health & safety requirements.

As the business grows from strength to strength, we are now looking to further extend our team by recruiting a Lead Engineering Consultant, qualified to degree level, with extensive consultancy/project management skill ideally gained across thermal, renewables, waste treatment or data centre power projects.

This permanent role will be based from our Stockport office.

We seek:

• a professional engineer with a good degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or close equivalent field);
• significant project management experience of any combination of thermal power plant, waste treatment, renewable power or data centre power projects;
• practical experience of consultancy processes; production of professional reports, contractual standards and negotiation, P&ID's, engineering software/models, client liaison.
• technical experience of FEED, contracts, construction phase, commissioning and takeover;
• thorough understanding of all relevant UK engineering standards;
• familiarity with health and safety and process safety principles;
• strong analytical and communication skills;
• full right to work in the UK with no visa restrictions;
• the ability and willingness to work from our south Manchester office 2 to 3 days a week.
• Travel will be mainly UK and Ireland with occasional short trips to mainland Europe.
