Lead Engineer (Bridges)


We are recruiting a Lead Engineer to play a key role in managing the design, assessment, and construction of highway structures across Lancashire.

This senior role will provide you with the opportunity to work on a wide range of structures projects from the inspection and assessment of bridges to leading on the design and preparation of projects in delivery of the capital programme or providing design support for externally funding projects.

With around 7000km of highway as well as a county wide public footway network, Lancashire County Council manages and maintains a significant number of bridges, retaining walls and other highway structures. With substantial investment in infrastructure there is a high demand for our services.

Managing other engineers within a wider team, you will provide professional and technical leadership to ensure that our varied programme is delivered to budget and meets demanding timescales.

You will have a good working knowledge of current standards relating to the design, assessment, and construction of highway structures. You will have experience of managing a team in delivering projects to budget and programme and supporting contractors in the delivery of the construction phase of projects.
