Due to our continued growth, we are now recruiting for a Lead Engineer - Automotive Seating to be based at our customer's site in Gaydon.

Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited, working on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace, and Industrial Heavy Machinery.

Role Summary:

The Lead Engineer is responsible for leading the subsystem engineers and managing deliverables for all aspects of the defined Seating component(s) / system(s).

Dimension of Function:

Engineering, Research, and Development (ER&D) is a growing function within Tata Technologies Limited. The Lead Engineer will take ownership of a specific commodity throughout the full product development lifecycle.

Area of Responsibility:
  • Establish, plan, and lead Seating engineering subsystem meetings, ensuring cross-functional input.
  • Ensure subsystem objectives and targets (technical and business) are met.
  • Coordinate with the customer using Agile Framework, analyze information, and assess feasibility within timelines.
  • Conduct DFMEA, 8D/5W analysis, and manage APQP processes.
  • Identify critical topics and manage key deliverables.
  • Project management tasks: scheduling, task creation to meet milestones.
  • Support vehicle build/prototype and launch activities in the UK.
  • Manage risks, resolve issues, and communicate with stakeholders.
  • Make customer-focused decisions and build relationships.
  • Travel within the UK to customer and supplier sites as required.
  • Provide weekly/monthly reports.
Knowledge / Experience:
Essential:
  • Experience in automotive seating project development.
  • Knowledge of automotive seating regulations.
  • Proven project management skills, delivering on time and within budget.
  • Engineering knowledge of component/system design, performance, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
  • Experience in quality tools like FMEA, Six Sigma, problem resolution.
  • Successful delivery record in automotive product development.
  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to listen to customers and communicate effectively.
  • Leadership in meetings and follow-up actions.
  • Ability to work under pressure with patience.
  • UK driving license.
Preferred:
  • CAD literacy, ability to manipulate and interrogate CAD data.
  • Experience with Catia V5.
  • Knowledge of project delivery processes like PPAP.
