Were looking for a talented and driven Lead Engineer to head up complex projects, guide multidisciplinary teams, and help us push technical boundaries through innovation and best practice.

Lead Engineer - Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership

  • Lead engineering projects or major task packages from concept through to delivery.
  • Instil and promote engineering best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure quality, innovation, and compliance across all engineering activities.
Design Engineering
  • Own and lead design activities including 2D/3D CAD modelling of complex mechanical systems.
  • Generate and guide early-stage concepts and technical solutions.
  • Lead design reviews (internal and client-facing) and oversee DfX processes with manufacturers.
  • Review and check technical drawings and schemes for accuracy and compliance.
Advanced Analysis
  • Direct FEA (linear, non-linear, thermal) for both components and assemblies.
  • Lead CFD modelling across 2D and 3D flow domains.
  • Perform and check hand calculations to validate detailed simulations.
  • Make informed design alterations based on performance, safety, and efficiency metrics.
  • Project Management
  • Take ownership of engineering project delivery-scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Manage budgets, report progress to internal teams, and communicate with clients.
  • Lead and co-ordinate large-scale project teams.
Business Development
  • Maintain and grow key customer accounts as main point of contact.
  • Win new business through proposal creation, cost estimation, and campaign delivery.
  • Attend client meetings, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Manage your own business development pipeline and CRM entries.
Communication & Reporting
  • Lead author and approver of technical reports and client documentation.
  • Create and deliver technical presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Build strong working relationships with customers and suppliers through clear, confident communication.
Mentorship & Leadership
  • Supervise and guide junior engineers and placement students.
  • Provide technical mentorship within a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
Professional Development
  • Actively develop your skillset, including learning new software tools.
  • Progress toward Chartered status with full support from the business.
Lead Engineer - About You
