Job Title: Lead Engineer

Location: Central London

Terms: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00

Salary/Rate: £50,000 - £51,000 depending on qualifications and experience

Requirements:
  • NVQ/City & Guilds Electrical Installations Level 2/317th/18th Edition
  • Electrical or Mechanical qualification
  • 2391 - desired
About the Company:

A well-established maintenance provider renowned for prestigious contracts, currently recruiting a Lead Engineer for a blue-chip building in Central London. The company promotes staff internally and seeks a strong Lead Engineer to join their team.

Responsibilities:
  1. Ensure health & safety of sites and engineers.
  2. On-site HV and LV Authorized Person when qualified and on shift.
  3. Oversee subcontractors, administer work approvals, and ensure safety during repairs or servicing.
  4. Support site management and ensure compliance with KPIs/SLA.
  5. Maintain and update Computer-Based Maintenance systems (e.g., Maximo, Concept), ensuring timely closure of PPM and reactive tickets.
  6. Collaborate with the Area Contract Manager to maintain high service levels.
  7. Ensure statutory and code compliance across sites.
  8. Plan and execute PPM schedules, ensuring adherence to manufacturer guidelines.
  9. Manage day engineers and shift teams.
  10. Maintain accurate asset registers and labels.
  11. Procure materials and services efficiently.
  12. Source additional work opportunities and raise quotations.
  13. Provide technical support to engineers, helpdesk, and clients.
  14. Investigate operational incidents and coordinate callouts with the helpdesk.
  15. Promote health & safety culture within the team.
  16. Assist engineers with PPM tasks and maintain regular communication.
  17. Ensure uniforms are in good condition and all third-party works are completed.
  18. Attend statutory works and provide feedback.
  19. Escalate unapproved quoted works with business impact potential.
  20. Act as first point of contact for shift issues and mechanical incidents.
  21. Produce and distribute weekly reports with the Area Contract Manager.
  22. Perform any other reasonable management requests.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Experience leading a team within the facilities maintenance industry or a strong engineering background.
  • At least three years' experience as an engineer.
  • Client-facing experience preferred.
