Job description

A leading consultancy is looking for a Manager to join its team, advising on energy regulation, policy, and strategy. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects that shape the future of the utilities sector, including price controls, regulatory frameworks, and industry transformation.

You will bring expertise in energy networks regulation, with a strong understanding of Ofgem’s RIIO price controls, and play a key role in helping clients navigate regulatory changes, optimise financial performance, and influence industry policy.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide strategic advice on regulatory policy, price controls, and market frameworks.
  2. Work with leading energy and utility clients, advising on policy developments and transactions.
  3. Engage with stakeholders, including regulators, government bodies, and investors.
  4. Conduct economic and financial analysis, applying regulatory and microeconomic principles.
  5. Draft high-quality reports, develop insights, and present recommendations to clients.
  6. Lead projects from inception to completion, managing teams and client expectations.
  7. Support business development activities, including proposal writing and client pitches.
Qualifications & Skills
  1. Strong understanding of UK energy regulation, Ofgem’s RIIO framework, and economic principles.
  2. Experience in regulatory finance, utility markets, or microeconomics.
  3. Ability to apply structured, strategic problem-solving to industry challenges.
  4. Excellent analytical skills, with experience in quantitative analysis and financial modelling.
  5. Strong stakeholder engagement, with experience working with policy-makers and regulators.
  6. Ability to lead projects, manage teams, and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  7. Highly motivated self-starter, with a passion for the energy sector and regulatory change.
