Job summary

Dover Imaging & Identification (DII) in Nottingham, UK, is seeking a passionate engineer to join an entrepreneurial, agile team. You will write software and firmware for embedded system components and lead internal and external partners to deliver market-leading products.

You will drive continual improvement of software development practices, partnering with hardware teams to ensure robust architectures and high-quality implementations across the product line.

Qualifications

• Experience developing high-quality embedded software from requirements analysis to delivery.
• Demonstrable record of technical leadership within a software team.
• Advanced knowledge of C++ and on-target debugging skills.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development practices.
• Familiarity with electronics, schematics and hardware interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Defines and troubleshoots system-level software design proposals and architectures.
• Collaborates with hardware engineers on interfaces, microprocessor selection and I/O communications.
• Tests and verifies embedded firmware for hardware compatibility.
• Drives quality and efficiency within the embedded software team and mentoring others.
• Leads software estimation and planning to support business processes.
• Interfaces with cross-functional teams, stakeholders and customers to understand requirements.
