Job description

Location: Arbroath, Scotland OR Ballymena, Northern Ireland

Reports to: Operations Manager or Electrical Supervisor where applicable

The Lead Electrical Technician is responsible for coordinating the activities of Electrical Technicians to carry out work in accordance with project deadlines and quality standards. This is a hands-on role and you will be expected to participate in team activities.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Organise resources to meet project deadlines, budgets and production requirements
  • Ensure and deliver high levels of productivity and efficiency from the electrical team
  • Support Managers, Project Engineers and Designers in the realisation of their goals
  • Be an example of fair, assertive and effective leadership.
  • Support and develop the technical skills of the Electrical Team, including apprentices
  • Work as part of a project team with specific duties of electrical assembly and de-bugging on special purpose industrial automation and robotic assembly systems
  • Assemble, wire and test control panels and machine wiring to detailed electrical schematic diagrams
  • Provide preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance support for all equipment and on site
  • Ensure team has the appropriate tools and equipment to carry out their duties
  • Ensure procedures and working practices to ISO9001:2015 are adhered to and suggest where improvements can be made
  • Promote and ensure good housekeeping practices in and around the facility
  • Carry out a safe working practice at all times
  • Protect and support the Company’s reputation in public with customers, suppliers and other interested parties
  • Complete any other reasonable tasks as assigned

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Time served Electrical Technician
  • Qualified to HNC level in a relevant discipline
  • Highly skilled in assembly, wiring and testing control panels.
  • Ability to work to technical drawings and parts lists
  • Knowledge of PLCs
  • 5+ years manufacturing experience in electrical assembly or other relevant industry
  • Ideally a background in industrial automation
  • Supervisory or mentorship experience
  • Clear communication skills for update of project tasks
  • Willing and able to travel to customer sites both nationally and internationally
  • Effective interpersonal relationship skills to create a positive and productive team-oriented environment with all departments
  • A proactive and flexible approach to work and be comfortable with a dynamic environment with constantly changing priorities
