Job summary

Generations People is recruiting an electrically biased Maintenance Supervisor for a leading manufacturing site in Chesterfield. You will oversee all maintenance activity, guiding the team to keep machinery and facilities running safely with minimal downtime.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on preventive maintenance, breakdown response and continuous improvement across plant reliability, reporting into site management and collaborating with production to maximise uptime.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years’ maintenance experience with supervisory responsibility.
• Strong electrical bias — essential.
• Apprentice trained.
• Solid mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic knowledge.
• Experience using CMMS/maintenance management software.
• Excellent leadership, planning, budgeting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and engineering best practice.

Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and develop the maintenance team.
• Ensure 100% compliance with planned preventive maintenance schedules.
• Respond quickly to electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Manage maintenance budgets, spare parts, contractors and CMMS records.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, environmental and statutory regulations.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Plan and manage shutdowns, maintenance projects and new equipment installations.
• Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance documentation and performance reports.
• Work closely with production to maximise equipment uptime.
• Drive continuous improvement using KPIs such as uptime, MTTR and MTBF.
