Job summary

SF Partners in Burton-on-Trent is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer with a strong background in electrical design and team leadership to take ownership of the electrical engineering function across industrial projects.

You will lead a small team, define architectures, review designs, mentor engineers, and ensure compliance with safety standards while collaborating with mechanical, controls, manufacturing and quality teams.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading or managing an Electrical Engineering team.
• Hands-on background in electrical design for industrial projects.
• Experience with electrical CAD tools (SolidWorks Electrical / AutoCAD Electrical / EPLAN).
• Strong knowledge of three-phase power, LV/MV distribution and protection.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate electrical design activities across industrial projects.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of Electrical Engineers.
• Allocate workload, plan resources and prioritise against deadlines.
• Define electrical architectures, schematics and system-level design strategies.
• Review and approve electrical designs, calculations and documentation.
• Oversee wiring diagrams, control panel designs and cable schedules.
• Lead selection and specification of electrical components and protection devices.
• Carry out and validate load, fault current, cable sizing and device coordination calculations.
• Ensure designs meet customer requirements and safety standards.
• Lead design reviews, risk assessments and failure analysis activities.
• Support projects from concept through prototype, production, testing and commissioning.
