Lead Electrical Engineer (@one Alliance)

The Vacancy

Binnies an RSK Group company is looking for a Lead Electrical Engineer to join us as part of our @one Alliance.

What will you be doing as our new Lead Electrical Engineer?

As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will provide engineering technical direction to discipline engineers in your area. You will support the design of schemes, ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and compliant with current legislation and standards.

You will review electrical design deliverables produced by other electrical engineers within the @one Alliance and supply chain to ensure adherence to processes and standards. Additionally, you will coach and mentor junior and less experienced electrical team members.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Report regularly to the Principal Engineer.
  • Collaborate with Principal Engineer, Portfolio Design Managers, and Project Design Managers to track upcoming project milestones and design review dates.
  • Review specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings, and 3D models to ensure quality, safety, and technical standards are met.
  • Mentor junior and less experienced electrical team members.
  • Address construction site and supply chain design queries and change requests promptly and accurately, ensuring design suitability.
  • Participate in Construction Design Management (CDM) and commissioning strategy meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Principal Engineer and Design Managers on potential improvements.
  • Liaise with other departments and project teams regarding design requirements.
  • Manage quality through design workflow reviews aligned with project timelines.
  • Support other discipline leads and engineers to deliver quality engineering outputs on time.
  • Promote sustainability and low-carbon designs.
  • Encourage offsite build, modular construction, and repeatable solutions.

Skills, Experience, and Behaviours

To succeed, you should have an engineering degree or equivalent experience, with Chartered status or working towards it. Experience in water-sector assets and capital projects is essential. You should be familiar with relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice. Experience mentoring junior engineers and working in a Design & Build environment is advantageous.

Leadership qualities include integrity, ethical conduct, respect, effective team interaction, stakeholder engagement, emotional intelligence, and decision-making skills. You should be able to select appropriate design methods and exercise sound judgment, enhancing practices where necessary.
