Job summary

Electus Recruitment Solutions is seeking a senior electrical engineer to take technical ownership of complex electrical systems from concept through integration and service. The role includes leading end-to-end design, defining architectures, and ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The position is Dorset-based with hybrid working; potential for compressed hours or part-time arrangements. This is a permanent role requiring Security Check clearance and hands-on design involvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent depth of professional experience.
• Solid experience designing electrical systems for complex products or platforms in regulated or safety-critical environments.
• Strong knowledge of power distribution, control systems and electrical safety principles.
• Experience using electrical CAD tools to create and maintain design documentation.
• Understanding of UKCA/CE marking, EMC and relevant electrical standards.

Responsibilities

• Leading end-to-end electrical and controls design for complex maritime and autonomous systems from concept through integration and service.
• Defining electrical architectures, power distribution strategies and control approaches meeting safety and regulatory requirements.
• Producing, reviewing and approving schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules and supporting technical documentation to a high assurance standard.
• Supporting system integration, commissioning and fault finding while remaining hands-on to resolve issues.
• Collaborating with mechanical, software and systems engineers to ensure coherent, system-wide electrical solutions.
• Providing technical oversight, mentoring and guidance to engineers to build team capability.
