Remarkable people, trusted by clients to design and advance the world.

Wood is recruiting for a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical discipline within our Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) Systems Integration (SI), Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) business, which is part of our Digital Consulting unit.

This is a hybrid role based out of any of the following UK offices: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Northampton, Staines, or Reading.

Please note that applicants must be able to pass the HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

The Role

Reporting to the E,C&I Head of Discipline, this role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced electrical engineer to enhance performance and uphold best practice standards across the E,C&I engineering function.

The Lead Engineer will support the growth of a team of electrical engineers both in the UK and in our Indian engineering team, providing electrical engineering expertise across various projects in the Energy and Materials sectors, ranging from small pre-feed studies to major EPCM projects. Experience with Variable Speed Drives (VSD) is advantageous.

You will oversee electrical resources across all SI EMEA projects, ensuring appropriate support levels, and manage recruitment, retention, and development of the team.

You will serve as the technical authority for electrical matters within SI EMEA, reviewing final design outputs and providing principal or lead support to projects as needed. Certification as a G35 approver/appraiser and/or holding a CompEx12 certification is required.

Travel within the UK to client sites and Wood offices may be required due to the geographical distribution of the team and project needs.

This role is ideal for a principal electrical engineer with high standards who enjoys mentoring engineers and collaborating across disciplines in a dynamic project environment.
