Job summary

Ground Control in Devon is seeking an experienced ecologist to manage a varied portfolio of projects from enquiry to delivery, providing high-quality technical advice and building trusted client relationships.

You will lead UKHab and protected species surveys, produce technical reports such as PEAs, BNG Assessments and EcIA, and mentor junior ecologists while driving improvements and delivering positive outcomes for biodiversity.

Qualifications

• A degree (or equivalent) in Ecology or Environmental Science.
• Minimum of three years' ecological consultancy or relevant field experience.
• Member of CIEEM, ideally Associate Member or above.
• At least one protected species licence and licensed survey experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.
• Experience with UKHab surveys and ecological reporting.
• Excellent project management and stakeholder skills.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage ecological projects from enquiry to delivery with high-quality advice.
• Deliver UKHab and protected species surveys for planning and biodiversity objectives.
• Produce PEAs, BNG Assessments, EcIA, Habitat Management Plans and reports.
• Analyse data and develop mitigation and enhancement measures.
• Coordinate surveys, timescales, resources and delivery.
• Prepare fee proposals, quotations and tender submissions.
• Be a trusted client contact for stakeholders and contractors.
• Mentor Assistant Ecologists and support team capability.
• Promote best practice and high technical standards.
