Job summary

Ground Control is seeking an Ecologist to lead projects from enquiry through to delivery, balancing ecological requirements with client needs. You will join a growing Ecology Team in Devon and have the opportunity to influence decisions and deliver meaningful environmental improvements.

You will work on Biodiversity Net Gain, habitat restoration, protected species licensing, and complex ecological assessments, with autonomy and mentorship from Senior and Principal Ecologists.

Qualifications

• A degree (or equivalent) in Ecology, Environmental Science or related.
• Minimum of three years' ecological consultancy or relevant field experience.
• CIEEM membership at Associate level or above.
• At least one protected species licence and experience leading or supporting licensed survey work.
• Strong knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy.
• Experience undertaking UKHab surveys and technical ecological reporting.
• Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Manage ecological projects from enquiry to delivery with high-quality advice.
• Deliver UKHab and protected species surveys.
• Produce PEAs, BNG Assessments, EcIAs, Habitat Management Plans and other reports.
• Analyse data and develop mitigation and enhancement measures.
• Coordinate survey programmes, timescales and resources.
• Prepare fee proposals and tender submissions.
• Act as a primary contact for clients and stakeholders.
• Support and mentor Assistant Ecologists.
• Promote best practice and continuous improvement.
