Job summary

Assystem in Warrington seeks an experienced engineering leader to head a multi-disciplinary team on a major nuclear project, delivering feasibility, requirements, safety cases and planning for delivery phases.

You will guide estimates, schedules and design deliverables, ensuring compliance with nuclear regulations and safety standards. Chartered/institution membership preferred, SC clearance may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering team to deliver project outcomes
• Identify feasibility of approaches and develop outline requirement specifications
• Identify TRL levels and development plans for viable solutions
• Plan delivery of appraise and select phases to meet time, cost and quality
• Lead estimating, scheduling, forecasting and production of design deliverables
• Manage DSA teams in production of deliverables
• Develop safety cases and attend HAZOPs, supporting safety assessments and substantiation documentation
• Interface with other project discipline leads and engage site clients and stakeholders

Job Description

Location: Warrington

Type: Permanent / Contract

Role Responsibilities

• Lead and direct a multi-disciplinary engineering team to:
• Identify the feasibility of the approach
• Develop an outline requirement specification
• Identify the TRL levels and associated development plans to deliver a viable solution
• Prepare a plan for the delivery of the appraise and select phase of the project. Deliver to the agreed time, cost and quality
• Lead the multidiscipline teams, responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting and the production of the agreed design deliverables
• Manage the DSA teams in production of deliverables
• Develop the safety case(s), including attendance at HAZOPs, support to safety assessment, review of ES, and production of substantiation documentation
• Identify additional resource demand where required to ensure all deliverables can be originated and checked in accordance with the project schedule
• Interface with other Project Discipline leads within the project(s)
• Interface and engage with Site clients and stakeholders

Essential Experience

• Background in engineering, demonstrating a record of successful delivery including recent leadership roles guiding technical personnel
• Significant experience in an engineering design environment with strong technical knowledge
• Recent experience working within a regulated and quality-assured system (preferably nuclear), where professional engineering judgement is key
• Knowledge and understanding of governing laws, regulations, and standards for the nuclear industry (equivalent experience in other industries will be considered):
  • Health & Safety at Work Act
  • The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • Safety of Machinery, CDM, LOLER, Pressure Systems, DSEAR, Ionising Radiation

Qualifications

• Higher Education Qualification in Engineering (or Equivalent) subject
• Appropriate (Engineering or Scientific) Institution Membership.
