Lead EC&I Engineer
We are looking for an experienced Lead EC&I Engineer to support key project delivery in the nuclear decommissioning industry. Based in Warrington with hybrid working opportunities, this role suits professionals with strong leadership skills and a track record in highly regulated environments. This is a contract position inside IR35, offering the chance to play a pivotal role in a critical engineering programme.

Location and Working Pattern
Warrington-based with hybrid working: typically 3 days in the office and 2 days remote (potentially negotiable depending on personal circumstances).
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and technical support across multiple project work packages.
- Produce estimates for all applicable stages of the Sellafield Gated Process.
- Lead design delivery within internal teams and manage external contractors.
- Check design drawings and documentation, ensuring compliance with approvals processes.
- Carry out plant configuration walkdowns to confirm and document baseline conditions accurately.
- Determine engineering requirements and support Validation and Verification activities.
- Represent the project team professionally during supplier engagements, including acceptance tests.
- Coordinate with other disciplines and present deliverables at key reviews.
Must-have Requirements
- Proven experience in leading EC&I design delivery through various project lifecycle stages.
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks (Nuclear Installations Act, Site Licence Conditions, HASAWA, EWR, CDM, LOLER, PED, IRR).
- Expertise in delivering EC&I design packages, translating specifications into safe, legal design solutions.
- Experience in highly regulated industries.
- Qualification in Electrical & Electronic or Controls & Instrumentation Engineering.
- Ability to gain BPSS security clearance.
Nice-to-have Skills
- Existing P1/P4 pass and familiarity with Sellafield IT systems (SEMS/SLMS).
- Experience with Programmable Electronic Systems, Machinery Safety, and Cybersecurity Risk Assessment.
- Familiarity with Sellafield processes (D03760 Design Change Awareness and D03770 Checking & Approvals).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D and Client IT systems (MS Office, Cimage, AVEVA).
- CyBOK foundations or industrial cybersecurity qualifications.
- Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and/or professional registration with IET, IoP, or InstMC.
- City & Guilds 2382 (BS 7671:2018).
