Lead Microsoft Power Platform & Dynamics Architect

Cardiff | £64,079 - £75,701 | 29% Pension |

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Architect to lead the design, strategy, and technical direction of complex applications within a cloud-first environment. Your expertise with Microsoft Power Platform, Dynamics 365, and Azure will be central to delivering scalable, secure, and innovative solutions aligned to business needs.

In this pivotal role, you will guide architectural decisions, collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, and ensure best practices are maintained in the design and implementation of Microsoft ecosystem solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and documentation of large-scale, complex applications using MS Power Platform, Dynamics 365, and Azure components.
  • Assess and select appropriate tools such as Model-driven and Canvas apps, PCF Controls, and XrmToolBox plugins based on project requirements.
  • Configure and customize Dataverse/Dynamics entities, forms, and related components.
  • Design integrations between PowerApps and Azure services including Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, and Azure Functions.
  • Provide expert consultation on API design focused on integration, scalability, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate with service squads, project teams, and operational groups to own and evolve the technology architecture.
  • Ensure technical solutions align with governance frameworks by presenting at Technical Design Authority and Solution Design Authority boards.
  • Manage technical roadmaps, balancing evolving business needs, technology trends, and overall impact on the technology estate.
  • Liaise with architects across disciplines to maintain architecture alignment.
  • Partner with strategic delivery teams to meet organisational goals and standards.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, guiding decision-making with a focus on risk, cost, quality, and timing.
  • Conduct ongoing research into emerging technologies to recommend improvements.
  • Implement HMG IA technical security controls in accordance with ISO 27001 and the Security Policy Framework.

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience designing and customizing Dataverse/Dynamics entities and forms.
  • Solid understanding and practical experience with PCF Controls to extend Dynamics capabilities.
  • Expertise with plugins, especially those available in the XrmToolBox.
  • Strong background in integrating PowerApps with Azure components such as Logic Apps, Azure Service Bus, and Azure Functions.
  • Deep technical knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud architecture and associated technologies.
  • In-depth understanding of relational databases, data modelling, and Microsoft ecosystem tools (Azure, REST APIs, Service Bus, APIM).
  • Demonstrated expertise in API architecture and solutions design.
  • Comprehensive experience within the MS Power Platform and Dynamics ecosystem, including logic implementation (Power Automate flows, workflows, plugins, web resources, business rules).
