If you’re driven, self-sufficient, and passionate about leading change with a background in transport operations, we want to hear from you. We're looking for a Lead Distribution Manager to join our Distribution and Fleet Team.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the safe, legal, and efficient operation of our fleet and distribution centres. Leading a team of 6, you will ensure smooth mail movement between plants, hubs, and delivery offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Performance & Improvement -Use KPIs and continuous improvement tools to boost site performance and close gaps. Lead and embed change initiatives across your area.
  • Fleet & Asset Management -Ensure full compliance with transport legislation (O’ Licence and CPC required or gained within 12 months). Work closely with Fleet and Asset teams to optimise vehicle and container usage.
  • Team Leadership -Apply business standards and coach drivers. Drive performance through 1:1s, development plans, and training strategies. Foster a positive employee relations climate.
  • Planning & Partnerships -Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Deliver business plans, manage special events, and maintain effective agency partnerships.

About You

  • Proven experience in transport operations and team leadership
  • Strong knowledge of UK road transport legislation (CPC essential or willingness to gain)
  • Skilled in performance management, planning, and data analysis
  • Confident working with unions and driving continuous improvement
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
