A governmental digital services organization is seeking a Lead Digital Identity Engineer to design and implement secure identity platforms for the UK Parliament. The role requires expertise in digital identity management and cloud IAM solutions. You will provide technical guidance, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with security standards. It enables the UK Parliament to run smoothly, function efficiently and operate transparently, and when you join us as Lead Digital Identity Engineer, you'll focus on the design, implementation and maintenance of our core infrastructure platforms.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Digital Identity Engineer to join our team within the Platforms Directorate. As the Lead Digital Identity Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of core infrastructure platforms. You will provide expert technical guidance and leadership to ensure secure, highly available, reliable, and performant digital identity platforms, enabling both Houses of Parliament to meet their strategic and business objectives.
What you will need:
As a flexible and dedicated subject matter expert with plenty of hands-on operational experience, you'll be ready to offer technical direction and support the development of strategies that provide continuous improvement of our digital identity services. You'll also possess:
* Digital identity management and lifecycle utilising RBAC, PIM, PAM, CCM, etc.
* Management and implementation of Active Directory, AD management tools such as Active Roles, and Entra ID.
* Must have experience working with Microsoft Entra ID protection and CA policies.
* Public and Private Cloud IAM (Identity & Access Management). Familiarity with IaaS, PaaS solutions such as Entra ID and AWS as well as securing SaaS.
* Single Sign-on and Federation using standard protocols and frameworks such as Kerberos, SPNEGO, SAML 2.0, ADFS, OpenID Connect, Entra ID B2B and B2C, etc.
* Public Key Cryptography PKI and administration of Certification Authority services.
* Modern Authentication techniques andDevice Authentication & Profiling.
* Remote Access Solution such as Windows Direct Access and/or Always On VPN.
* Zero Trust Architecture concepts for Identity and Access Management.
About the team:
You will be part of a specialist team within the Platforms Directorate that is responsible for delivering and maintaining Parliament's core digital identity services. The team plays a critical role in ensuring secure and seamless access to systems and services, supporting the identity lifecycle, access governance, authentication, and trust frameworks across a complex and high-profile environment. With a strong focus on security, resilience, and operational excellence, the team works collaboratively across the organisation and with trusted partners to enable a modern, agile, and digitally confident Parliament.
