Job summary

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester is seeking a Healthcare Science Technical Service Manager (Band 8a) to lead the Diagnostic Radiology Physics service, working with Medical Physics Experts and Radiation Protection Advisers.

You will test and advise on modalities, provide supervision, manage staff, and drive service improvements while maintaining IRMER compliance. The role is full-time, permanent, with 37.5 hours per week.

Qualifications

• A specialist leadership & operational management position for a registered healthcare scientist or healthcare science practitioner in diagnostic radiology.

Responsibilities

• Line management for healthcare practitioners within the team, including allocation of work and performance; arrange staffing and disciplinary actions if required.
• Lead recruitment of technical staff and oversee career development of technicians.
• Oversee assets and resources for the group including vehicles, dosemeters, calibrations, maintenance contracts and radiation sources.
• Coordinate equipment performance testing and radiation protection surveys in line with IRMER and ISO9001:2015 quality management.
