Job summary

myenergi is seeking a hands‑on Lead DevOps Engineer to lead our DevOps team and own the daily evolution of our cloud, observability and data platforms. You’ll shape and prioritise work, coach engineers, line‑manage the IT lead, and drive platform roadmaps with AI tooling adoption.

You’ll co‑manage the multi‑account AWS estate, improve CI/CD, maintain security controls and partner with firmware teams for hosting needs, delivering reliable, scalable infrastructure that powers our energy ecosystem.

Qualifications

• Proven senior or lead DevOps engineer on AWS.
• Line‑management or leading others experience.
• Strong Terraform and CI/CD experience (CircleCI or GitHub Actions).
• Production experience running Kubernetes (EKS) and serverless workloads.
• Hands‑on observability with OpenTelemetry and modern stack (SLOs, alerting).
• Solid Postgres administration; data pipelines or cloud data warehouse experience.
• Daily use of AI coding assistants with safe practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of DevOps and platform engineers; set expectations and coach.

• Prioritise, scope and size the DevOps programme across reliability, security and cost.
• Own on‑call rota and incident process; lead major incidents and root cause fixes.
• Partner with development and firmware teams on hosting and pipeline needs.
• Communicate roadmap, risks and outcomes; act as technical contact for AWS and vendors.
• Own the multi‑account AWS estate: environments, deployments, reliability and upgrades.
• Evolve the platform in Terraform across networking, EKS and serverless.
• Improve CI/CD (CircleCI, GitHub Actions) for safer, faster shipping; lead cost reviews.
• Operate Postgres, Redshift, Redis and OpenSearch with SLAs and backups.
• Own observability platform (ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry): logs, metrics, traces, SLOs, alerts.
• Own the data platform: Glue pipelines, Iceberg lakehouse, Redshift; support BI with clean data.
• Operate platform security controls within cybersecurity strategy; embed security in CI/CD.
• Keep IT and platform joined on identity and access controls; joiner/mover/leaver workflows.
• Lead adoption of AI tooling in DevOps with guardrails and measurable improvements.

Role Summary

A hands‑on Lead DevOps Engineer to lead our DevOps team and own the day‑to‑day evolution of myenergi's cloud, observability and data platforms. The team runs the platform around the clock, from hosting and CI/CD to observability, the data platform and security controls. The internal IT team is a separate team whose lead reports into this role. You will shape and prioritise the team's work, coach and develop its engineers, line‑manage the IT lead, and remain a strong individual contributor. Working to the direction set by the Head of Software and Cybersecurity, you will deliver the platform roadmap, act as technical escalation point for the platform, and lead the adoption of AI tooling within DevOps.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of DevOps and platform engineers: set expectations, give feedback and coach.
• Line‑manage the Internal IT lead; oversee IT roadmap, priorities, budget and escalations.
• Prioritise, scope and size the DevOps programme of work across reliability, security and cost.
• Own the on‑call rota and incident process; lead major incidents and fix root causes.
• Partner with development and firmware teams on their hosting and pipeline needs.
• Communicate roadmap, risks and outcomes; day‑to‑day technical contact for AWS and vendors.
• Own the multi‑account AWS estate: environments, deployments, reliability and upgrades.
• Evolve the platform in Terraform across networking, EKS and serverless, choosing the right fit.
• Improve CI/CD (CircleCI, GitHub Actions) so teams ship safely and often; lead cost reviews.
• Operate Postgres, Redshift, Redis and OpenSearch with clear SLAs and backups.
• Own the observability platform (ClickHouse, OpenTelemetry): logs, metrics, traces, synthetics, SLOs and actionable alerting.
• Own the data platform: Glue pipelines, Apache Iceberg lakehouse, Redshift and CDC; serve BI users with traceable datasets and handle data requests with strong privacy practice.
• Operate platform security controls (identity, secrets, hardening, vulnerabilities, incident response) within the Head of Software and Cybersecurity's strategy; embed security in CI/CD.
• Keep IT and platform joined up on identity, access, joiner/mover/leaver and certification.
• Lead adoption of AI coding and operations tooling in DevOps within agreed guardrails; use it daily and show measurable improvements.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Proven senior or lead DevOps engineer on AWS, including line‑managing or leading others.

• Strong Terraform and CI/CD experience, ideally CircleCI or GitHub Actions.
• Production experience running Kubernetes (EKS) and serverless workloads.
• Hands‑on observability with OpenTelemetry and a modern stack, including SLOs and alert tuning.
• Solid Postgres administration; experience operating data pipelines or a cloud data warehouse.
• Daily hands‑on use of AI coding assistants and agents, with a considered view on using them safely.
• Good understanding of cloud security practice; willing to participate in the on‑call rota.
• Excellent communication; comfortable prioritising, working with stakeholders and reporting upwards.

Desirable

• ClickHouse, Redshift or Apache Iceberg; data engineering with AWS Glue or Spark.
• Delivering the technical side of a security standard (Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001).
• Experience overseeing or working closely with an internal IT function.
• Deeper networking (VPC design, PrivateLink, IPSec); Bash and Python; Node.js/TypeScript familiarity.
