Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) relies on a wide range of technologies. In the new position of Lead DevOps Engineer for our cloud platforms, you’ll help shape our new ways of working to support and develop national systems that support CTP operations to keep the country safe.
If you want to contribute to something that matters, this could be the role for you. Using your technical leadership skills, you’ll help lead and develop a new team of DevOps engineers responsible for the support and development of our cloud platforms.
You’ll also be a key player in embedding agile and DevOps practices across the team and stakeholders, supporting and improving business as usual operations alongside project delivery teams. Your skills will ensure critical systems are available and secure for CTP operations.
Working flexibly from home, our operations centre east of Birmingham (near M6 and M42) or from our London HQ, you’ll be part of our Customer Service Centre (CSC) team providing technical support for all national services. Please note, this role may require future on-call support commitments.
Daily responsibilities include managing the team’s technical workloads, prioritising issues with senior engineers, and escalating as needed. You’ll need to meet standards, SLAs, best practices, and security procedures, requiring experience with agile leadership in diverse enterprise environments.
As a skilled Lead DevOps Engineer, you should have excellent understanding of cloud technologies and security, preferably with Microsoft Azure and AWS. Technical creativity, decision-making confidence, and the ability to communicate technical needs to non-technical stakeholders are essential.
This is a developing team, so a keen interest in learning and developing technical and soft skills is important. Knowledge of infrastructure as code, e.g., Terraform, is beneficial, along with other relevant experience.
This flexible role offers home and office working options. Occasional UK travel and overnight stays may be required. We promote work-life balance, but flexibility in working hours is sometimes necessary due to the role’s nature.
Join a role at the heart of UK public safety. Benefits include generous leave, Civil Service pension, flexible working, training plans, and development opportunities.
