Job description

Position: Lead DevOps Engineer / Azure Cloud Architect

Suitable for: DevOps Engineer with Architect experience OR Azure Cloud Architect with DevOps experience. Need to have approx. 6 years Azure experience

Location: Homebased (UK) with expectation to work in Milton Keynes office at least once a month or as and when required.

Salary: £80k/£90k DOE + bens

The ideal profile for the Lead DevOps Engineer / Azure Cloud Architect is someone with 6+ years hands-on experience with Azure, familiar with the Well-Architected Framework and who can demonstrate real passion for cloud technologies and has strong problem solving and critical thinking ability.

This is a Lead DevOps / Azure Cloud Architect role and, as such communication skills are critical, including the ability to translate complex paradigms into easy-to-understand pieces.

Responsibilities:

• Design and document patterns/best practices, guided by the Well Architected Framework, for engineering teams to follow to ensure effective use of Azure technologies.
• Design and prototype new approaches alongside software and solution architects.
• Build foundational Terraform modules where applicable to accelerate development teams.
• Leading the DevOps Consortium function, to ensure engineers in development teams are following best practices and deploying high quality and secure services.
• Assist with Azure cost analysis and optimisation of services across the estate.
• Ensure scalability and high availability by co-ordinating/participating in Performance and Disaster Recovery tests.

Skills / Experience Required:

• Min 6 years’ experience as DevOps Engineer (with Azure) and/or as Azure Cloud Architect
• Deep understanding of Azure components including Virtual Machines / Scale Sets, Azure Kubernetes Service, API Management, App Services / Service Environments, Azure SQL and MI, Functions, Networking, App Insights, Data Factory, Databricks, Identify Management (Entra)
• Azure DevOps / ADO
• Solid understanding of Terraform, Helm, Flux, Powershell / Azure CLI

• Desire to keep up with latest tools, technologies and techniques
