Job summary

Global Relay is seeking an iOS DevOps Lead to guide a cross-geographic team in delivering secure, scalable DevOps for iOS platforms. You will lead hands-on work, mentor staff, and drive strategic initiatives across CI/CD, IaC, and on-prem infrastructure.

You will collaborate with developers, manage performance, and align delivery with industry best practices while ensuring a high level of security and reliability in our on-prem and hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years as team lead.
• 1–2 years using Xcode and Swift.
• Strong security awareness and Kubernetes practices.
• Hands-on Python and Bash experience.
• Ability to collaborate across functions and geographies.
• Solid CS fundamentals: threading, OOP.
• Understanding of networking, firewalls, databases, etc.
• Knowledge of Git branching models and configuration management.
• Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins).
• Experience with IaC tools (Ansible or Puppet).
• Experience with containerization/virtualization (Docker/Podman/VMware).
• Nice to have: regulated environments; on-prem Mac Minis management; feature toggling and no-downtime deployment.

Job description

Salary: £85,000 - 90,000 per year

Requirements:

• A minimum of 2 years working as a team lead
• 1-2 years using Xcode and Swift
• Strong security awareness, including security best practices surrounding Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience with Python and Bash
• Comfortable collaborating with cross-functional areas
• Comfortable working in a cross-geographic team
• Understanding of computer science fundamentals like threading and OOP
• Understanding of software systems concepts such as networking, firewalls, protocols, databases, and more
• Some understanding of software delivery practices such as Git branching models and configuration management
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or similar
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Ansible or Puppet
• Experience with containerization/virtualization technology such as Docker, Podman, or VMware
• Experience working in a highly regulated environment is a nice to have
• Experience working within on-premise infrastructure or managing a cluster of Mac Minis is a nice to have
• Understanding of software delivery practices such as feature toggling and no-downtime deployment is a nice to have

• Research, innovate, and develop solutions aligned with DevOps best current practices
• Monitor and streamline tooling, processes, or infrastructure to ensure a smooth and consistent experience for our development teams
• Instrument monitoring to get the best out of our on-premise hardware and ensure system issues are dealt with efficiently
• Collaborate closely with our developer community, providing support and troubleshooting when required
• Set the strategic goals for iOS DevOps, ensuring scaling, efficiency, and security needs are met through the activities of our team
• Ensure the team maintains high motivation and works on the highest-value priorities
• Conduct regular 1-to-1s, coaching, guidance, and performance management activities to develop our staff and maximise their potential
• Work on a combination of hands-on technical activities and line management duties to maintain a high-performing and motivated team
• Consolidate our Continuous Integration pipelines and deployment processes to maximise efficiencies and facilitate world-leading software quality
