Lead Developer

We are seeking a Lead Developer with experience in developing scalable PHP-based applications. The successful candidate will lead one of our development teams focused on developing the Xtremepush engagement platform. Core technologies include PHP, MySQL, Vue.js, and AWS.

The ideal candidate will be proactive and driven, with previous experience as a Lead Developer. They will excel at understanding and working on complex technical solutions requiring performance and optimization at scale.

This is a hybrid role (2 days in the office). #LI-Hybrid

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a team lead, managing the backlog and workload, scoping requirements, peer reviewing code, and providing feedback.
• Work closely with the product team to understand the vision and translate it into engineering requirements.
• Support the team as a line manager, conducting 1-1s, setting objectives, and mentoring.
• Represent the team in management and stakeholder meetings, ensuring best practices and suggesting process improvements.
• Investigate, test, and resolve technical problems, working with engineers to deliver core functionality.

Your Experience and Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in software development using PHP
• 2+ years of leadership or management experience, including hiring and developing engineers
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex solutions simply
• Knowledge of OOP, development patterns, and best practices (e.g., DRY, SOLID)
• Understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous tasks, event-driven architecture, caching, and queue processing
• Experience with high-performance systems and solving complex engineering problems at scale
• Experience with Cloud and DevOps technologies (AWS, Terraform, CI/CD) is preferred
• Interest or experience in marketing technologies, big data, analytics, AI, or machine learning
