Job description
Overview

Lead Designer - Materiality – 50.35/hr (Inside IR35) – Warwickshire – 9 Months (potential for yearly renewal). This role leads the design and development of sustainable and responsible colour and materials content for core, special vehicle, and bespoke programmes. You will create and realise innovative proof of concepts and material solutions for interior and exterior applications from concept through to job 1 and beyond, with a focus on creation and realisation of material initiatives and methods of make.

Key accountabilities and responsibilities
  • Weekly design reviews for project progress assessments with line manager and chief designer.
  • Contribute to meetings through suggestions, problem solving and design representation.
  • Mentor teams or individuals as opportunities arise.
  • Demonstrate proven creative and presentation skills.
  • Have a good understanding of product, interior, the design industry in general and automotive design, with strong aesthetic judgement, colour vision and colour perception.
  • Knowledge of automotive materials, processes and suppliers with a high degree of competitor awareness.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to and communicate at all levels.
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision to meet objectives and implement design independently.
  • Passion for colour and material technology and design, evidenced by up-to-date field literature, innovations and trends.
  • Proven ability to plan and undertake projects to strict deadlines.
  • Independent, results-driven individual with tenacity and the ability to deliver operational plans in a complex, demanding environment.
Skills / Experience Required
  • Relevant design degree.
  • Design software competency: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign.
  • Design experience.
  • Relevant 5+ years experience with ability to mentor and coach others in design process and methods.
Desirable Skills
  • Ability to adapt to changing design, feasibility and cost requirements.
  • Additional software skills such as VRED or video editing software like Final Cut Pro.
