Job summary

One Way Resourcing seeks an experienced Design Manager to lead the design across laboratory, science and high-specification commercial fit-out projects in Oxfordshire. You will coordinate with clients, architects and engineers from pre-construction through delivery, ensuring buildable, compliant information.

The role focuses on M&E coordination and multi-stakeholder design delivery, with opportunities to drive risk mitigation and design excellence within a growing family-run contractor.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Design Manager or in a similar technical/design coordination role.
• Strong understanding of the construction and fit-out design process.
• Experience in laboratory, life sciences or commercially complex fit-outs is advantageous.
• Good understanding of M&E coordination in services-heavy environments.
• Confident in managing multiple consultants, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Strong technical, organisational and communication skills.
• Comfortable across both pre-construction and live project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design process from pre-construction through to project completion.
• Coordinate architectural, M&E and specialist design information.
• Lead consultants, architects, engineers and other design stakeholders.
• Review design information for buildability, compliance and coordination.
• Develop and manage design programmes against project milestones.
• Identify design risks and resolve issues before delivery impact.
• Lead and attend design team meetings with clients and consultants.
• Support procurement and construction teams with technical information.
• Manage design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
