Are you interested in working for a global tech business providing market-leading solutions to clients in Utilities, Construction & Civils, Geospatial, Transportation & Logistics, and more? If you are an experienced database management professional with expertise in large-scale production databases, AWS, and Linux, this role within our DevOps team as Lead Database Engineer could be ideal for you.

Our DevOps team supports multiple internal software teams, enabling them to deliver top-tier software solutions. We manage development, hosting, and services for various applications, with mission-critical databases requiring high performance, availability, and security.

Your primary responsibilities will include developing, supporting, and operating production and development OLTP and data warehouse databases, including maintenance, tuning, and troubleshooting for PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MongoDB on AWS RDS and Linux infrastructure.

You will join a global team of DevOps professionals across the US, Europe, and Asia. Experience in international teams, problem-solving, and stakeholder relationship building are advantageous. You should be able to manage your own time effectively given the time zone differences.

What You Will Do:

  • Consult with application teams on architecture, development, and best practices
  • Provide thought leadership and proactive communication to ensure operational excellence
  • Collaborate with development, engineering support, systems engineering, and network teams for troubleshooting and resolution
  • Advise on SQL design and tuning for applications
  • Assist with architecture and support of high availability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Plan and execute upgrades and patches
  • Manage large production databases or hold a related degree
  • Experience with high-availability services and large data systems
  • Senior-level experience with PostgreSQL and Oracle, managing databases >10TB
  • Knowledge of AWS and other cloud platforms
  • Contribute to schema design and cloud transformation efforts
  • Experience in backup and recovery processes
  • Effective communication skills in English
  • Experience with ITIL, ISO27001, or similar environments
  • Knowledge of procedural languages like PL/SQL and automation scripting
  • Experience with database migration and additional platforms like MS-SQL, MySQL, NoSQL
