Job summary

Kainos is seeking a Data Solution Architect to lead multi-skilled teams and design data-intensive applications, owning architecture end-to-end. The role involves coordinating with operations, infrastructure and customer architects to deliver robust, scalable data solutions in modern cloud environments.

You will drive functional and non-functional designs, mentor staff, and contribute to data governance and broader data capability while shaping roadmaps and managing delivery timelines.

Qualifications

• Experience leading multiple teams as a data solution architect.
• Experience designing, building, and productionising data-intensive applications.
• Broad knowledge of data technologies: ingestion, transformation, storage, presentation and consumption.
• Strategic design thinking: problem conceptualisation, roadmap, architecture realisation and risk management.
• Comfortable with traditional and contemporary data warehousing concepts.
• Experience deploying data-processing platforms on AWS, Azure, GCP or Databricks.
• Comfortable with Java, Scala or Python; hands-on when required.
• Demonstrated ability to manage, coach and develop team members.
• Knowledge of MDM, masking, data governance, provenance and lineage desirable.
• Experience with technical evaluation and product selection desirable.
• Comfortable with data integration techniques such as messaging, queuing, CDC or data virtualization desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-skilled agile teams to design and deliver contemporary data solutions.
• Implement functional and non-functional designs successfully.
• Work closely with ops and infrastructure architects to productionise robust, resilient, and maintainable data solutions.
• Work closely with customer architects to agree functional and non-functional designs.
• Advise, question, inform, and help customers make sound solution design decisions.
• Develop policy and standards with peers, share knowledge, and mentor others.
• Manage and estimate timelines underpinning solution delivery.
• Own technical solution design as part of a pre-sales process.
• Make a significant contribution to the data community and wider data capability.
• Manage, coach, and develop a small number of staff, including employee performance and career development.
• Provide direction for the team while solving problems together.
