Job summary

Hastings Direct is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to shape and deliver advanced data science solutions across the business. You will lead a team of Data Scientists, guiding projects from trial to production and monitoring, and work with stakeholders to translate complex data into practical insights across telematics, claims and customer behaviour.

The role emphasizes ML, statistical modelling and cloud-based technologies, with a focus on robust governance and scalable models in a hybrid working

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading Data Scientists in a commercial setting.
• Strong ML and statistical modelling background.
• Proficient in Python and SQL with production deployment experience.
• Ability to translate complex data outputs for non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of Data Scientists.
• Shape and deliver the DS strategy in your area.
• Develop advanced ML and statistical models for business problems.
• Own DS projects from concept to production and monitoring.
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders to identify impactful opportunities.
• Evaluate new data sources and techniques to enhance modelling.
• Ensure models are robust, governed and well validated.
• Work with Data Engineering to deploy data pipelines.
