Job summary
Ground Control is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to drive the technical direction of our Microsoft Fabric platform. You will shape data engineering standards, guide complex migrations from on-premise systems, and build robust data pipelines to support Power BI reporting and analytics.
You will mentor engineers, influence platform strategy, and collaborate with partners to retire legacy tooling while delivering a scalable, secure data estate.
Qualifications
- Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Fabric, architecture and best practices.
- Experience leading large-scale data platform initiatives, incl. cloud migrations.
- Advanced SQL with optimised queries and data workloads.
- Experience designing analytical data models for Power BI reporting.
- Track record establishing engineering standards and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical direction of the Microsoft Fabric platform and architecture decisions.
- Lead migration from on-premise data solutions to Microsoft Fabric.
- Build and optimise data pipelines across Fabric Lakehouse, Data Warehouse and Data Integration.
- Create analytical data models to support Power BI reporting and self-service analytics.
- Coach engineers via code reviews and hands-on guidance.
- Improve platform performance, security, governance and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with Microsoft and partners to shape platform strategy.
