Capital One UK in Nottingham is seeking a Software Development Engineer to build and evolve our cloud-based data ecosystem. You will contribute across front and back-end work using Java, Python and React/Typescript within a self-organised Data Engineering team.

You’ll help deliver scalable applications, drive best practices, and collaborate with Product Management to meet business goals in a hybrid, Nottingham-based role. The position offers generous benefits and strong career progression.

Qualifications

• Experience as a technical lead delivering outcomes at pace.
• Strong OO language experience: Java, Python, React/Typescript.
• Experience in architectural design meeting business needs.
• Effective cross-team communication and collaboration.
• Proven track record delivering high-quality applications at scale.
• Experience with testing approaches including TDD/BDD and pair programming.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software features as part of a self-organised Data Engineering team.
• Work on a major portion of existing or new team software (significant component, set of features, mid-size app or service).
• Collaborate with Product Management and your Outcome Team Leadership to align goals.
• Drive engineering best practices (Operations, Security, Quality) across teams.
• Innovate within your team and contribute within your technical domain.
