Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group is hiring a Lead Data Engineer in Edinburgh with hybrid work. You will shape the data engineering capability, own data pipelines and secure-by-design data foundations for AI and analytics. The role combines leadership with deep technical delivery across a complex enterprise.

You will mentor engineers, partner with Security, Cloud, Architecture and Product teams, and help drive the data strategy in a regulated financial services environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading technical delivery and mentoring engineers in a senior or lead capacity.
• Designing, building and operating scalable data platforms and pipelines.
• Experience with cloud-native data platforms across Azure, AWS, GCP or similar environments.
• Deep understanding of data modelling, data quality, metadata, lineage and governance.
• Ability to make pragmatic, risk-aware technical decisions balancing resilience and maintainability.
• Experience embedding CI/CD, automated testing, observability and version control.
