Job summary

Ravio is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to guide a small team while remaining hands-on in designing, building, and operating the data systems behind our compensation benchmarks, customer-facing tools, and AI agents. You’ll help turn priorities into delivered outcomes across engineering and product.

You’ll report to the VP Engineering and mentor engineers, building reliable data capabilities, governance, and self-service workflows that reduce toil and accelerate delivery in a fast-paced startup.

Qualifications

• Six-plus years’ experience in data engineering, with leadership exposure.
• Strong Python and SQL skills and production data systems experience.
• Experience with data modelling and transformation frameworks (dbt).
• Experience applying platform engineering principles to data systems.
• Proficiency with cloud infrastructure, IaC, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Understanding of reliable data processing, handling schema changes and backfills.

Responsibilities

• Be a senior technical contributor, building and operating Ravio’s data pipelines and services.
• Shape and deliver the data roadmap with product, data science, and insights.
• Build data quality, governance, and security into daily delivery.
• Collaborate with engineering to integrate data systems into SDLC practices.
• Own reliability and day-to-day support of production data systems.
• Mentor engineers, set team goals, and drive value for users and the business.
