Job summary

Ravio in London is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to lead a small data team, staying hands-on while designing, building, and operating data systems behind our compensation benchmarks and AI tools.

You’ll combine technical leadership with coaching, shaping the data roadmap with Product, Data Science and Insights, and delivering reliable, value-focused outcomes in a fast-paced startup.

Qualifications

• Six-plus years’ experience in data engineering, with at least two years in a team leadership role.
• Strong Python and SQL skills with experience building and operating production data systems.
• Experience with data modelling, transformation frameworks such as dbt, and workflow orchestration.
• Experience applying platform engineering principles to data systems with reusable patterns and self-service tooling.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, IaC, automated testing, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Be a senior technical contributor, building and operating pipelines, integrations, and data services behind Ravio’s product.
• Shape and deliver the data roadmap with Product, Data Science, and Insights.
• Prioritise improvements delivering customer value and reducing manual work while controlling cost and complexity.
• Implement data quality, governance, and security into delivery with clear ownership and access controls.
• Lead the team’s delivery planning and ways of working, ensuring visibility of priorities and dependencies.
• Mentor engineers, set team goals, and support career development.
