Cavu in Manchester is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to oversee the architecture, development and maintenance of our data infrastructure, ensuring efficiency, reliability and regulatory compliance. You will lead a team supporting data scientists and BI analysts, build scalable data pipelines, enable batch and streaming data, and drive ML initiatives for forecasting and insights.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience as a Data Engineer, focusing on pipelines, ETL, data warehouses and stakeholder management.
• Strong programming in Python with Spark, plus SQL and NoSQL experience.
• Cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and data services.
• Leadership and team management skills.
• CI/CD & IaC experience.
• Data modelling, governance, quality and security.
• Experience with a unified data processing/analytics platform (e.g., Databricks).

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance and cultivating collaboration.
• Design, develop, and maintain robust data pipelines and ETL processes for integration and storage.
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts and stakeholders to translate data needs into technical solutions.
• Partner with Head of Data Engineering to implement impactful data initiatives.
• Ensure data quality, validation, and monitoring across the platform.
• Optimize performance across databases, warehouses, lakes, and streams in an event-driven architecture.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in data engineering.
• Provide expert troubleshooting and data issue resolution.
