Job summary

Summer Browning is seeking a Lead Data Analyst to head the data and analytics function for a Central Government client in Glasgow on a 12-month hybrid contract. The role drives high-quality reporting, insights, and data services for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring data assets are reliable and aligned with priorities.

The successful candidate will manage a team, oversee reporting delivery, and advance data quality while contributing to the wider data strategy across the organisation.

SBA are currently supporting our Central Government client who are seeking a Lead Data Analyst on an initial 12 month contract.

Location: Glasgow (Hybrid)

Role Purpose

The Lead Data Analyst is responsible for leading the day-to-day data and analytics function, ensuring the delivery of high-quality reporting, insights, and data services to both internal and external stakeholders. The role acts as the bridge between analytics and business operations ensuring that data assets are reliable, accessible, and aligned to organisational priorities.

The successful candidate will manage a team of analysts, oversee reporting delivery, drive data quality improvements, and contribute to the evolution of the organisation's wider data strategy.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

• Significant experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics roles.
• Experience leading or managing an analytics team.
• Proven track record of delivering enterprise reporting and dashboard solutions.
• Strong understanding of KPI development, operational reporting, and performance management.
• Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and translating business needs into analytical solutions.
• Experience working with modern BI and visualisation platforms.

Desirable

• Experience operating within a complex, data-driven organisation.
• Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and master data principles.
• Experience supporting both internal business reporting and customer-facing reporting services.
