Job summary

The Placement Group is seeking a senior information security architect in the United Kingdom to own the security story for the market. You will translate complex cloud architectures and security postures into clear, confident assurances that accelerate deals and deepen customer trust.

You will lead hands‑on AWS security work (IAM, VPC, KMS, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub), define repeatable playbooks, and drive automation to reduce manual tasks while supporting cross‑functional teams across

• 4–10 years of information security experience with emphasis on application security, cloud security, or pre‑sales/solutioning.
• Strong knowledge of web frameworks, cloud‑native architectures and SaaS security.
• Ability to communicate complex security topics clearly in writing and in conversations.
• Builders mindset with playbooks, templates and automation.
• Experience driving automation or process improvements in security/ GTM contexts.
• Comfort with across‑time‑zones work and shifting schedules.
• Hands‑on AWS security architecture and operations (IAM, VPC, KMS, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub).
• Knowledge of OWASP Top 10, secure SDLC, API security, TLS/AES‑256 and key management.
• SaaS security models, multi‑tenant architectures and shared responsibility.
• Familiarity with security questionnaires, trust centers and GRC tools.
• Ability to read security docs, pen test reports, SOC 2 audits, architecture diagrams.
• Proficiency with scripting or no‑code/low‑code automation.
• Certifications such as CISSP, AWS Security Specialty, AWS Solutions Architect, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ are a plus.

Salary: £66,000 - 106,000 per year

Requirements

• 4-10 years of experience in information security, with depth in application security architecture, cloud security (AWS), or security pre-sales/solutioning.
• Strong understanding of web application frameworks, cloud-native architectures, and SaaS security models.
• Proven ability to communicate complex security topics clearly and concisely, both in writing and in live customer conversations.
• A builders mindset: we default to creating playbooks, templates, and repeatable processes rather than solving problems one-off.
• Experience driving automation or process improvement in a security operations or GTM context.
• Comfort working across time zones and adapting to shifting schedules when customer needs require it.
• Self-directed, low-maintenance, and energized by fast-paced, high-growth environments.
• Hands-on depth in AWS security and cloud security architecture and operations, including IAM, VPC, KMS, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and Security Hub.
• Web application security fundamentals, including OWASP Top 10, secure SDLC, API security, and encryption standards such as TLS, AES-256, and key management.
• Working knowledge of SaaS security models, multi-tenant architecture, and shared responsibility frameworks.
• Familiarity with security questionnaire and trust center platforms, as well as GRC tools.
• Ability to read and interpret security documentation, penetration test reports, SOC 2 audit reports, and architecture diagrams.
• Comfort with process automation concepts, including scripting, workflow builders, or no-code/low-code tools to reduce manual, repetitive work.
• Certifications are nice to have, including CISSP, AWS Security Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect, CISM, or CompTIA Security+ or equivalent foundational certification.
• Executive-level communication skills with the ability to distill complex security topics into clear, confident narratives for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Cross-functional influence skills, with the ability to build alignment across Security Engineering, Legal, Product, Sales, and Customer Success without formal authority.
