Lead Cyber Security Engineer

Location: ScottishPower HQ, Glasgow

Salary: £57-72K (plus up to 15% bonus & private healthcare cover)

The Lead Cyber Security Engineer will be part of an active and ambitious global cyber security team, contributing to SPEN’s goal of delivering cyber-resilient OT and IT systems to ensure a safe and reliable electricity supply. The role involves working with other security specialists to design and implement highly secure network solutions that defend against potential OT cyber-attacks.

What you’ll be doing

You will primarily focus on substation domains—owning, designing, and implementing secure solutions to prevent OT cyber-attacks. You will support the design and delivery of security services to meet key business needs, providing technical guidance and leadership to project teams. You’ll manage assigned tasks, report progress, and work with stakeholders to address delays, risks, and issues. Ensuring security is integrated throughout infrastructure deployment and operational monitoring is crucial. You will advise on and test security measures within continuous integration and deployment pipelines, proactively identifying threats and breaches, and planning for OT estate requirements in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in deployment and operation within critical infrastructure areas such as Protection and Control Systems, Automation, Telecommunications
  • Practical knowledge of international standards like IEC 62443/62351
  • Experience developing and updating Cyber Security policies, procedures, and practices, including NIS Directive compliance
  • Proficiency in designing, implementing, and maintaining security tools and applications
  • Good understanding of networking and system technologies (LAN/WAN, Linux/Windows)
  • Knowledge of the PURDUE model and security controls
  • Ability to produce reports suitable for C-Suite audiences
