Job description

London, Greater London | £90k - £100k per year

Lead Cyber Security Engineer London / WFH to £100k

Are you a senior, hands-on Cyber Security Engineer with a strong networking background, ready to take ownership of security within a scale-up technology business?

You could be progressing your career at a well-funded and profitable FinTech scale-up.

As the Lead Cyber Security Engineer, you'll take ownership of day-to-day security engineering, improving existing controls and developing the organisation's security architecture as the business scales. Network security will be a key focus, including firewalls, secure connectivity, access controls and the continued development of Zero Trust principles.

You'll also oversee improvements across endpoint hardening, vulnerability management, IAM, cloud security and internal controls. Working with an outsourced SOC and MDR provider, you'll ensure security monitoring and escalation processes are effective, while helping progress initiatives such as SASE and SOC 2 compliance.

Alongside hands-on technical delivery, you'll work with stakeholders across the business, communicate risks and recommendations clearly and help improve security awareness through internal training. This is a senior individual contributor role where you'll have the freedom to identify problems, take ownership and deliver meaningful improvements.

Location / WFH:

You'll join colleagues in the Central London office with flexibility to work from home twice a week in a hybrid model.

About you:
  • You're an experienced Cyber Security Engineer with a broad spectrum of knowledge
  • You have experience within Financial Services with a good knowledge of governance, risk and compliance requirements
  • You have deep networking and infrastructure security experience, including firewalls, secure networking and network layer controls
  • You have a good knowledge of IAM, endpoint security, hardening and vulnerability management.
  • You have an understanding of cloud security, with the ability to develop this further (they use GCP)
  • You have experience of improving security controls, architecture and operational processes
  • You're familiarity with outsourced SOC / MDR services, Zero Trust, SASE or SOC 2
  • You have excellent communication skills, able to explain technical risks and recommendations to non-technical stakeholders
  • You have a proactive, commercially aware approach, with the confidence to drive improvements independently
  • You're degree educated in a STEM discipline
What's in it for you:

As a Lead Cyber Security Engineer you will earn a competitive salary (to £100k) plus pension and other benefits.
