We are excited to announce an incredible opportunity for 3 highly skilled specialists to join our Slough operation as a Lead Critical Facilities Engineer (CFE Level VI). This daytime role is perfect for someone eager to contribute to the development of innovative concepts and techniques within our Data Centres.

Responsibilities:

Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance

  1. Performs highly skilled preventative and corrective maintenance on-site for critical facility systems.
  2. Performs highly skilled maintenance repairs, corrective maintenance, and complex installations.
  3. Resolves advanced incidents and develops new procedures and techniques to support the overall team.
  4. Monitors the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolves alarms for complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve. Makes recommendations for new procedures to the management team.
  5. Leads and coordinates critical infrastructure operations.
  6. Implements energy efficiency measures and identifies areas of opportunities.
  7. Inspects operation and maintenance of plumbing, fire suppression, and life-safety systems.
  8. Consistently works on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues. Makes recommendations for new procedures.
  9. Develops project scope with management for life-cycle maintenance/end of life infrastructure projects and critical replacements.

Vendor Support

  1. Facilitates selection of vendors for outsourced maintenance activities.
  2. Directs vendors on highly skilled tasks to ensure that maintenance activities are carried out per standards and requirements.
  3. Creates scripts for maintenance and submits.
  4. Tracks and implements the work approval process for critical service providers (including briefing at the start of work, control of work during the day workday/shift, and final review of the work carried out).
  5. Inspects implementation changes/updates to technical files for plants and equipment (in cooperation with vendor and the supervisor) ensuring builds are up to date.

Site Administration & Incident Support

  1. Completion of complex site logs and data gathering for issuing of permits, such as Maintenance Operation Protocol (MOPs) and scripts.
  2. Identifies and escalates process discrepancies to higher management.
  3. Identifies Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and makes recommendations for new procedures.
  4. Acts as a support team lead for operating processes and procedures; supports the team on adherence.
  5. Supports the on-site staff during critical incidents.
  6. Responds to all on-site incidents, including major failures, significant problems and delays.
  7. Assists with RCA (Root Cause Analysis).
  8. Assists management with maintaining technical documents.

Work Orders & Additional Projects

  1. Completes highly skilled work requests and circuit installations.
  2. Coordinates more advanced troubleshooting and maintenance of office equipment (if necessary); supports auxiliary equipment and machines with problem solving and repairs to avoid/minimize downtime.
  3. Makes moderate changes to mechanical, electrical and specialized systems, as directed.
  4. Performs capacity management reviews.
  5. Leads infrastructure project activities.

Collaboration

  1. Collaborates with others to resolve highly difficult facility incidents; identifies and understands underlying issues.
  2. Acts as a support team lead when identifying component-level faults and provides recommendations for new procedures.
  3. Utilizes resources outside of the department as necessary.
  4. Plans inventory needs to maintain optimal stock levels of critical parts and equipment.
  5. May act as an escalation point for processes relating to maintaining inventory.
  6. Advises other team members on repairs and preventative maintenance.
  7. Acts as a support team lead on implementing highly skilled, complex projects.

Who are you?

  1. Educational Background: ONC/BTEC/NVQ or equivalent qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
  2. You are a skilled collaborator ready to work with a diverse team and excel at communication both verbally & written.
  3. Experience: Previous experience in data centre or critical environment settings is beneficial.
  4. Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of critical infrastructure, including UPS, generators, BMS, chillers, and life safety systems. HV switching experience preferred.
  5. Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, flexible, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
