Job summary

Spire Healthcare is seeking a Critical Care Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of the Critical Care Unit, delivering safe, effective and compassionate care with strong clinical leadership. You will oversee staffing, rotas and workforce planning, ensure high standards of care and infection prevention, and support education and development of the Critical Care team.

You may provide Outreach support and collaborate with senior leadership to enhance services.

Qualifications

• Current NMC registration and a recognised Critical Care post‑registration qualification.
• Significant experience working within an acute hospital Critical Care/HDU environment.
• Previous experience in a senior Registered Nurse or equivalent leadership position.
• Experience of leading, mentoring and developing clinical teams.
• Experience of workforce planning and clinical rostering.
• ALS and CALS training.
• A relevant nursing degree or equivalent, alongside evidence of ongoing clinical and leadership development.

Responsibilities

• Leading, supporting and developing the Critical Care team, acting as a visible and approachable clinical leader.
• Managing staffing, rotas and workforce planning to ensure safe staffing levels, appropriate skill mix and service capacity.
• Maintaining high standards of clinical care, patient safety and infection prevention and control.
• Supporting the education, training and competency development of Critical Care and wider clinical teams.
• Providing Critical Care Outreach support to other areas of the hospital when required, including supporting the safe step‑down of patients to the ward environment.
• Working closely with the Director and Deputy Director of Clinical Services and wider senior leadership team to develop and improve the service.
• Participating in the Hospital Resuscitation Team and the hospital Duty Manager and Senior On‑Call rotas.
