Job summary

A leading engineering company in Aberdeen is seeking an experienced Lead Control & Instrument Engineer for a 12-month contract. The role involves leading the Control and Instrumentation team, overseeing project budgets, managing costs, and ensuring quality deliverables across multiple projects in the Oil and Gas sector. Ideal candidates should possess a degree in a related field and be working towards or have Chartered Engineer status.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Instrument Engineering Design on Medium/Large capital projects.
  • Competent to Lead the C&I Discipline interface with other Disciplines.
  • Experience working on UK projects using UK standards essential.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Control and Instrumentation team through all phases of project delivery.
  • Develop, manage, and control the budget for C&I central projects.
  • Work activities for projects and proposals will include various engineering phases.

Job Title: Lead Control & Instrument Engineer Location: Aberdeen Overview: Our Client are currently recruiting for an experienced Lead Control and Instrumentation Engineer to join their project delivery team in Aberdeen on a 12-month contract basis. This role will require a strong focus on leadership responsibilities, including budget oversight, planning, cost control, and team management. Responsibilities: Responsibilities

  • Lead the Control and Instrumentation (C&I) team through all phases of project delivery, ensuring high standards of performance and timely completion on a long-standing Master Service Agreement.
  • Develop, manage, and control the budget for C&I central projects on the MSA, ensuring cost efficiency while maintaining project quality.
  • Work activities will include both project and proposal work where both the technical approach and continuity must be aligned.
  • Work activities for both projects and proposals will be executed across all phases of projects including Conceptual Studies; Basic; FEED and Detailed Design.
  • Projects and proposals are for process plants and facilities across the Chemical; Oil and Gas; Power and Energy Transition/ New Energy sectors.
  • Project work will include the development of Instrument Engineering deliverables as required on a project-by-project basis. Qualifications: Skills / Qualifications
  • Experience in Instrument Engineering Design on Medium / Large capital projects from concept to start-up.
  • Experience working on UK projects using UK standards essential
  • Competent in working within the C&I Discipline of a contracting organisation.
  • Competent to Lead the C&I Discipline interface with other Disciplines.
  • Very good proactive communicator. The role involves liaison with Client Engineers & Project Management.
  • Degree qualified for the related discipline.
  • Have or work towards Chartered Engineer status as a Member of the Institute of Measurement and Control (IMC) or Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
  • Proven ability for equipment specification and the selection and in ensuring compliance from the suppliers, preferably within an EPC contracting organization.
  • Competent in project execution using selected design tools and techniques.
  • Competent in budget & Schedule control/monitoring and reporting.
  • Competent in design safety, and constructability.
  • To be able to work to Company standards.
  • Innovative when appropriate.
  • Competent in Electrical protection methodologies.
  • Competent in Specification, technical bid analysis, and requisitioning of Field Instrumentation and Analysers.
  • Competent in the application, specification, and requisitioning of DCS, PLC, and SIS systems, with experience in the system's full lifecycle.
  • Competent in the Specification / Design / Implementation of Hazardous Area Instrumentation (ATEX).
  • Competent in Instrumentation and Control requirements for Mechanical packages.
  • Competent in P&ID development.
  • Competent in the Sizing of flow devices/control valves/relief devices
  • Offshore experience
  • BOSIET/MIST (Preferred)
