Job summary

ITV Tyne Tees in Gateshead is seeking an experienced Content Editor to join the News team on a 9‑month maternity cover. You will help plan and coordinate day‑to‑day online and on‑screen news, curate digital content, and, when needed, deputise for senior editors.

Candidates should be fully qualified at NCTJ level (or equivalent) with at least three years in a broadcast newsroom, and be comfortable with weekend duties.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified journalist to NCTJ level or equivalent.
• Thorough knowledge of journalism compliance, Ofcom, privacy and health & safety.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate day-to-day news gathering for online and on screen.
• Oversee online editing, programme producing, and news editing.
• Lead planning for long-term and weekly coverage; generate original news ideas.
• Provide editorial guidance and mentorship to colleagues.
