Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Bury is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to provide senior medical cover on Low Secure wards, in Upper East and East Hampton units. The role offers full-time work (10 programmed activities) with a salary of £178,000 per year and a clear line of professional accountability to the Medical Director.

You will lead multi-disciplinary care, supervise clinical governance, audits and liaise with the Ministry of Justice for patient transfers, with opportunities for professional

Qualifications

• Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent).
• Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status.
• Experienced & knowledgeable in psychiatry.
• Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and related guidelines.
• First-rate communicator with strong medical notes and CPD commitment.
• Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• MRCPsych or equivalent membership.

Responsibilities

• Lead on high quality care for ward inpatients.
• Oversee patient treatment plans with the MDT.
• Assess referrals and conduct mental state exams.
• Conduct ward rounds, reviews and clinical audits.
• Lead risk assessment and clinical governance.
• Liaise with authorities for transfers and leave approvals.
• Maintain detailed patient records and CPD adherence.
