Qualifications

• MRCPsych or an equivalent qualification must be held.
• CCT or equivalent and be included on the GMC Specialist Register.
• Section 12(2) approval and Approved Clinician status are required.
• Demonstrated leadership, collaborative working and commitment to service improvement.
• Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and take overall responsibility for patient care.
• Lead multidisciplinary ward rounds, risk assessments, strategic reviews, and therapeutic planning.
• Act as Responsible Clinician for patients detained under the Mental Health Act (1983).
• Oversee referrals, admissions, and contribute to pre‑admission assessments.
• Provide specialist psychiatric expertise to multidisciplinary assessment, formulation, and treatment planning.
