Job summary

Public Health Wales is seeking a Consultant Epidemiologist to join CDSC, delivering surveillance, field epidemiology, research and teaching in infectious disease epidemiology. The post joins a team of consultants and contributes to the CDSC duty rota with leadership for investigations.

Qualifications

• Must be on GMC Specialist Register in Public Health or on relevant UK public health professional register (GDC / UKPHR).
• Proven experience in epidemiology leadership, surveillance and outbreak response.
• Ability to lead training, teaching and policy guidance across teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide surveillance, field epidemiology, research, and teaching in infectious disease epidemiology.
• Contribute to CDSC duty rota and provide leadership for surveillance investigations.
• Develop a research portfolio and collaborate with academic partners.
• Act as epidemiology lead for HARP, working with health boards on HCAI, AMR and healthcare epidemiology.
• Provide strategic leadership and technical input to the CDSC specialty group.
• Lead training, supervise registrars and fellows, and deliver policy advice to Welsh Government and officials.
