Job summary

Wood Plc is recruiting an Electrical Lead (Discipline Construction Lead) for a 12-month contract to be based at the project site office in Redcar on Teesside. The role includes overseeing all electrical construction, coordination with discipline leads, and ensuring compliance with project safety and quality standards.

Occasional travel to EPC offices in Paris and other UK/overseas facilities is required. The position is full-time on site (Mon-Fri) with limited but regular overtime to align with

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical installation from installation through to mechanical completion and handover.
• Coordinate with EPC Discipline Electrical Leads and Equipment Leads.
• Lead build it tight / build it clean standards for contractor compliance.
• Ensure compliance with client specifications, safety standards and quality requirements.
• Review method statements, TQs, NCRs and construction packs for electrical activities.
• Participate in walkdowns, punch lists, and turnover dossiers.
• Provide client input to constructability and readiness processes.
• Travel to EPC contractor design offices in Paris and other UK/overseas facilities.

• Coordination with SIP Lead for scaffolding requirements

• Coordinating with HSE Leads for ensuring lifting, testing and energisation is assessed, planned, and conducted ensuring suitable plant and methodology are in place with appropriate exclusion and access controls.
• Ensuring compliance with client specifications, project specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements
• Ensuring EPC reporting is compliant and reflects the status of the work
• Participate in Self Verification and Oversight process
• Provide Client input to constructability and readiness process
• Provide oversight for the field execution of electrical works from installation through to mechanical completion and handover
• Ensure all electrical installation is installed, tested, and pre-commissioned in accordance with project requirements
• Monitor contractor performance for technical compliance, cleanliness, quality standards, and schedule adherence; raise NCRs where necessary
• Coordinate resolution of technical queries (TQs), deviations, and change requests with engineering and contractor teams
• Review contractor proposals, method statements and construction work packs for electrical activities
• Support construction planning and progress reporting, ensuring accurate daily, weekly, and monthly updates from the contractor
• Participate in construction walkdowns and punch list management as part of mechanical completion
• Ensure discipline handover documentation / dossiers are complete and meet project requirements
• Identify and mitigate equipment specific risks, applying lessons learned and best practices throughout the project lifecycle
• Collaborate with other discipline leads and the main contractor to ensure seamless integration of electrical with other installation
• Lead "build it tight" and "build it clean" to drive contractor compliance
  HNC or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred; consideration will be given if time-served with suitable experience in similar roles
• Demonstrable experience in a similar role on large-scale EPC projects, overseeing and managing electrical installation including switchgear, transformers, distribution panels, UPS, generators, system protection, fire and gas, containment, cabling, glanding, preservation, punch out, walkdown, turnover and handover
• Proven skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to oversee construction planning and execution while maintaining safety and quality standards

Desirable Qualities

• Familiarity with multi-discipline interfaces and construction sequencing
• Experience in energy transition or large-scale industrial projects

The role will be based at the project site office in Redcar on Teesside, with occasional travel to EPC contractor design offices in Paris and other facilities in the UK and overseas. It is a full-time site-based role (Mon-Fri) overseeing all construction areas of the project. Limited but regular overtime may be required in keeping with EPC working patterns.
