What you’ll be doing

As a Lead Construction Assurance Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring compliance with quality and environmental requirements in asset design and delivery, monitoring delivery performance, and working with contractors to address issues and improve.
  • Ensuring compliance with current CDM regulations.
  • Engaging with Asset Management and Operations, identifying synergies, and using lessons learned from previous projects to influence effective designs or solutions.
  • Working with design teams and contractors to resolve issues promptly to minimise impact on the programme and cost.
  • Assisting design teams (contractors and internal) with practical, buildable solutions to meet the project brief.
  • Verifying and approving (assurance) of contractor project plans and pre-construction materials, escalating shortfalls promptly.
  • liaising with Operations and contractors to approve passing through key milestones, focusing on Start on Site and Construction Complete.
  • Monitoring and approving Take Over tests from Construction Complete where required.
  • Managing Takeovers comprehensively.
  • Coaching and maximizing team capability to maintain a challenging assurance culture and enable engineers to review and advise project PMs effectively.

Hybrid role based in Thames Valley.

On-site presence required 3-4 days a week, Monday to Friday, 36 hours/week.

The candidate must have a valid driving license and access to a car, with a car allowance of £4,500 per year.

  • Chartered Engineer or substantial experience in a similar role.
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate.
  • Extensive experience in construction practices within the water/wastewater industries.
  • Strong problem-solving skills supporting complex solutions.
  • Proven track record in Wastewater and Potable Water Infrastructure projects.
  • Understanding of infrastructure project development from design through operation.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices.
